This past month has been a busy and exciting time for our Studio. We are honored to have been recognized for our achievements during the Los Angeles Business Council Architectural Awards, the American Planning Association Los Angeles Awards, and the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce 125th Gala Honoring “Commercial Real Estate Development.”
LABC Under Construction/Chairman’s Award – The Bloc
Our Studio was awarded during the Los Angeles Business Council Architectural Awards for The Bloc in the Under Construction category. In addition, the project was recognized for a Chairman’s Award, as an early adapter for the DELOS for the WELL Building Standard.
The jury was impressed with the revitalization of downtown and the impact the Bloc will have on the area. They felt like the project was a massive undertaking and will greatly enhance the walkability and create unique mixed-use experience for locals and tourists alike. The LEED Gold certification was also a big factor with the judges, as we always strive to award impactful yet responsible projects. The Bloc was also awarded an LABC Chairman’s Award, due to the fact that the LABC fully supports the new WELL Building certification program and wanted to highlight those projects who adopted this standard early. The LABC was proud to recognize and chronicle innovation and forward thinkers in the industry. They specifically chose the Bloc, CBRE Headquarters and Haworth’s Showroom as models for future buildings to strive for.

Long Beach Chamber of Commerce Destination Tomorrow Award
The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce recognized our Studio for the impact we’ve made on our community with a “Destination Tomorrow” award. The “Destination Tomorrow” award is bestowed upon a company that has given back to its community and that will continue to grow in the future. Our firm has been rooted in Long Beach for more than 15 years and have played a major role in the community development. From fostering the first parklets in Southern California, to our streestcape improvements at 4th + Linden, our studio has played a heavy hand in the redevelopment and urbanization of the city. Thank you to the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce for recognizing our firm for this achievement.
APA Los Angeles Merit Award – Carson Street Mixed-use District Master Plan
Lastly, our Carson Street Mixed-use District Master Plan was recently awarded an APA (American Planning Association) Los Angeles Merit Award for the Implementation Small Jurisdiction category. Studio One Eleven completed the master plan in 2006 and since then the city has led implementation on many elements of the plan, creating a vibrant corridor.
Thank you to everyone who has made each of these projects a success. We are so grateful to have been noticed for all of our work and accomplishments.
