A high-quality child care facility for underserved families in the community

The mission of Children Today is to foster long-term stability and success in children and families who are facing homelessness or who are involved in the child welfare system. The program does this by providing trauma-informed child development and family support services at the brand new Children Today facility.

The projects vision was focused on children under age six who have experienced homelessness or abuse and neglect will have a safe, nurturing place to spend their days playing, learning and growing, while their parents take steps towards stability. The Ecohouse site previously operated as a day-care facility and contained two existing buildings and a playground on two lots totaling almost half an acre.

When Children Today came to our Studio their vision was clear; to provide a high-quality child care facility to underserved families in the community and to extend their vision into a statement of sustainability. By combining the goals from Children Today with revitalized buildings and outdoor spaces, the site was transformed from a collection of outdated buildings and concrete patios into an experience a child will appreciate each and every day.
