Newport Summit is the renovation and re-imaging of two Class A office buildings in Orange County, California. Much of the existing paving and plants were removed while taking care to preserve existing mature shade trees that create a park like setting.
Working around the existing trees, various drought tolerant plant species were introduced, reducing water demand and creating a soft, garden-like character to the landscaping.
The main organizing feature of the design is a central wood boardwalk that links all the outdoor spaces and connects two custom shade structures located at opposite ends of the project. New lighting, sign graphics, and site furnishings are provided throughout the site to improve wayfinding, pedestrian safety and flexible work hours.
The new landscape plan reflects current trends in office campus design, providing a range of exterior meeting and work spaces, as well as casual seating groups and recreational opportunities.
