Thrilled to announce that our Santa Ana Arts Collective project will proudly take home a 2023 AIA California Residential Honor Award! This groundbreaking adaptive reuse of a 1965 commercial building has transformed the space into vibrant housing for artists. In a world where office buildings are vacant and affordable housing is crucial, this project serves as a timely example of adaptive reuse done right. Extended congratulations to our client Meta Housing Corporation and the City of Santa Ana for their support. 

According to the jurors, “The architects took a middling-’60s office building, kept it, repurposed it, and augmented it with these townhouses: it’s very smart. The decision to reuse rather than demolish is admirable. The well-designed townhomes create a nice courtyard.”
