The Reno Aces Outfield project transforms a previously underutilized space into a dynamic and immersive family-friendly environment inspired by the rich character of Reno, the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada, and the game of baseball.

The design provides a unique environment that represents the specialness of the place and the allure of the sport while enhancing visitor engagement and facilitating fan participation.

The Outfield weaves together landscaped terraces, play areas, new walkways, and a variety of seating options to create a sense of fun, hierarchy and a seamless flow between spaces. Notable elements such as slides built into hillsides, tiered gathering spaces, and benches made from repurposed ski lift chairs provide distinctive features that reflect Reno’s outdoor recreation heritage and encourage playfulness and social interaction among fans. The elevated sightlines from “The Short Porch” and the “The Hill” allow visitors to watch from multiple vantage points and engage with the game and each other as they cheer on the home team, or just gaze at framed views of the downtown skyline.
The new design integrates local materials like granite boulders, wood timbers, native grasses and flora, and naturalistic landforms to reflect and celebrate Reno’s unique culture and landscape. Baseball-themed play elements, such as an oversized baseball glove and ball, the “Baseball Mountain” dining area and main promenade, known as “The Stitch” reinforce metaphorical connections to the sport while offering flexible spaces for relaxation, recreation, and gathering. The result is a vibrant, engaging, and memorable experience where baseball fans of all ages can connect, play, and create lasting memories against the backdrop of the city and the game.
