It sounds simple: a roof, a bench, some shade. So why is building a bus shelter so complicated?

In our latest episode, we unpack the surprisingly complex journey behind one of the most basic pieces of public infrastructure. What started as a seemingly straightforward design challenge quickly became a lesson in permitting, funding, coordination, persistence, and navigating the many systems that shape our public realm.

But some of the most meaningful outcomes were the ones we didn’t expect. Along the way, the project brought our team closer together, created new personal connections, and reminded us that even a frustrating process can have moments of humor, discovery, and fun. The challenge wasn’t just about getting a bus shelter built, it became a shared experience that strengthened the people behind it.
