Quick Facts
The City of Huntington Beach partnered with Studio One Eleven to transform Oak View, one of the city’s most densely populated and historically underserved neighborhoods.
From concept through completion, Studio One Eleven was involved in every phase of this comprehensive beautification initiative, which focused on enhancing streetscapes, open spaces, and introducing new signage and murals. We also supported the City’s successful grant application, securing $5 million from the Caltrans Clean California Initiative, which funded the majority of this impactful $6.5 million project.
Studio One Eleven led extensive community outreach sessions, engaging residents to gather feedback on design elements and prioritize key improvements. The final design reflects this input, emphasizing a safer, greener, and more walkable neighborhood. Key features include traffic-calming bulb-outs with drought-tolerant plantings, pedestrian-friendly crosswalks, street lighting and integrated stormwater management solutions that reduce runoff and improve environmental health. The addition of over 120 trees further enhances the area, creating shaded, inviting spaces along the streetscape.
In collaboration with residents, the city, and a local artist, the project celebrates Oak View’s rich culture and history. Vibrant street murals and thoughtfully designed entry signage bring the neighborhood’s unique identity to life, fostering pride and community spirit.
