This report is the second installment documenting a 12-month Public Space/Public Life Study conducted by Studio One Eleven.
The study documents public life at our design project – The Bloc – a mixed-use transit oriented development in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Studio One Eleven released the Q2 Benchmark report in the fall of 2017, representing the data and analysis from April, May and June of 2017. With this follow-up Q3 study we aim to add to the insights gathered thus far, enabling us to inform and shape the ongoing transformation of this public space in the heart of the city.
The Q3 report captures observations from July, August and September 2017. The methodology for data collection and
analysis is consistent over both study periods to accurately compare the incremental changes in pedestrian life and public activity. This allows us to discuss several factors external to the study methodology that have likely caused any observed changes. The following variables were highlighted in the comparative analysis between the Q2 and Q3 observations.
